Fraud, Kickbacks and Slush Funds…Pay-to-Play Katie has Sold Arizona Out!
As Governor, Katie Hobbs has been one of the most notorious pay-to-play politicians in America. Insurance companies, government contractors and political insiders have made millions from her shady political schemes, while Arizonans struggle to keep up with their bills!
Hobbs Pay-to-Play Criminal Probe
Katie Hobbs is under criminal investigation by the Democrat Attorney General for a quid pro quo bribery scheme involving one of her largest political donors. After receiving over $400,000 in campaign contributions, Hobbs authorized a 60% provider rate increase to the group home operator, a contract worth millions. She even took her campaign finance manager to a private dinner with the government contractor, and attempted to conceal the donations in a secret slush fund hidden from public inspection.
Hobbs even vetoed a bill that would have required companies seeking state contracts or grants to disclose any gifts or anything of value provided to the governor!
Lobbyists Pay for Mexico Vacations
Hobbs loves cashing in on free meals and trips from Lobbyists. This spring she took a lobbyist-funded trip to Mexico City to watch a baseball game. When questioned about who paid for her international vacation, Hobbs responded that “It’s none of your business.”
Sweetheart Deals for Katie & Friends
Hobbs has turned the Governor’s office into a jobs program for her political friends, increasing the number of staff on her payroll by 40% and costing taxpayers over $15 million. Most employees saw their salaries doubled by Hobbs, and new lavish 6-figure positions were created to reward her crony insiders.
In 2024, Hobbs shelled out $700,000 for a new state logo. It was later revealed that this expensive no-bid contract for a logo redesign was awarded to the firm owned by the brother of Hobbs’ tourism director.
Fraud Runs Rampant Under Katie Hobbs
The largest Medicaid Fraud scandal in state history was uncovered last year, with state investigators identifying over $2 Billion in Fraudulent Billing in Arizona’s healthcare system.
In 2023, the Department of Housing wired $2 million to a fake organization claiming to provide affordable housing. An external investigation determined that if Hobbs had implemented the most basic security protocols and wire transfer procedures that the theft would have been prevented.
Last year Hobbs was forced to ask the legislature to appropriate an additional $300 Million to pay for massive cost overruns and gross mismanagement within the Developmental Disabilities Program.
Hobbs Has Made Every Problem WORSE
Economy that is TANKING
When Hobbs became Governor, she inherited a state that was 4th in job growth and had a billion dollar budget surplus.
Today: Arizona is 47th in Job Growth, and our budget surplus has turned into a budget deficit.
In the process she continues to oppose common sense solutions to create jobs and grow our economy:
- Vetoed $1.1 billion in tax relief
- Vetoed a bill to phase out taxes on groceries.
- Vetoed tax relief for small business

Increased Housing Costs
Hobbs hasn’t just failed at bringing home prices down, she has made the problem worse by opposing bi-partisan solutions for new housing and enacting illegal regulations that could cost taxpayers billions in Damages!
- In 2024 Hobbs vetoed the ‘Starter Home Act,’ a bi-partisan solution to our housing shortage that would have increased the availability of single family homes to younger and middle class families.
- In 2023 Hobbs enacted an illegal housing moratorium that has increased home prices in Maricopa County. And now that the moratorium has been struck down in court, taxpayers are likely on the hook for billions in damages to landowners that were impacted by the illegal rule!
